Equitech Tuesday #134: Predictions

Baltimore Tech Community,

The funny thing about predictions is, once you make them, they’re set. The person making them will either look like a genius or like they don’t know what they’re talking about.

Well, let’s see how I fair. A few predictions for this weekend and the year in Baltimore:

Prediction #1: Taylor Swift will be spotted at some of Baltimore’s best restaurants this weekend. Given that her team probably won’t let her venture far from the Inner Harbor, she’ll miss out on premiere spots like Alma Cocina (the original home of Equitech Tuesday) and Clavel. My prediction: T-Swizzle will be spotted at Charleston (somebody snap a pick for me). No surprise, these Baltimore restaurants are all up for the prestigious James Beard Foundation Awards.

Prediction #2: CBS will show Taylor no less than 20 times during the broadcast. We will see her walking in the tunnels at M&T Bank Stadium (gotta have a fit check). We will see her with the Kelce family and all of her celebrity friends in a prime suite (maybe Kevin Plank’s?). The NFL has struck marketing gold. There will be no shortage of Taylor sightings on Sunday.

Prediction #3: Real Fan Dan will be the most celebrated shirtless man at the Bank this Sunday, stealing the spotlight from Jason Kelce who dares not challenge a man in his own home (or does he?). Time will tell.

Prediction #4: Lamar Jackson, Roquan Smith, and the Ravens Flock will come out victorious against Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and Taylor Nation. My son has 10 vinyl records. They’re all Taylor Swift. I need less TS in my life and I’m sure she would love to go on a proper vacation with her new man. Ravens win 24-21. The greatest kicker alive, Justin Tucker hits the game winner. Purple pandemonium ensues!

Prediction #5: The Baltimore MSA submits the most comprehensive, collaborative, and well-connected EDA Tech Hubs Phase 2 proposal of the 31 designees and wins an award for Phase 2 funding. I’m making this prediction with one caveat… The consortium working to submit this proposal needs the Baltimore Region’s corporate partners to align their commitments (resources, talent, and funding) to the elements of this proposal that matter most to them and sign letters of support for the proposal by mid-February! (Ask us how)

I hope to see as many of you dawning purple this weekend as possible! If you can tell me how many of these I actually got right this Equitech Tuesday, January 30 from 6-8 pm at Guilford Hall Brewery, your first beer/soda is on me!

Remember that on Feb. 6th, there is a special ET at Baltimore Peninsula, where we will discuss Baltimore’s Tech Scene with Aaron Dante on Baltimore’s #1 podcast, NoPixAfterDark LIVE!

RSVP is required and there are only a few spots left!

See you there!
