UpRise
UpSurge Baltimore and TEDCO have won the SBA’s Regional Innovation Cluster Network Award. This significant funding of up to $1.8 million over the next five years will support UpRise for Equitech, our ecosystem-wide program for commercial readiness and startup advancement in the Baltimore Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA). UpRise for Equitech consists of:
- Startup Advancement Programming for commercial readiness; Investor & corporate strategy sessions
- Digital platform for entrepreneurial resource navigation
- Assessment & roadmap development, curated resource & mentor matching
- Networking and community-building
Current Area of Expertise
Equitech Approach:
- Increasing access to resources, establishing collaborative networks, and promoting equitable standards and practices to diversify founder/startup pipelines
- Centralized startup data hub through network of shared data partners
Cluster Management:
- Regional coordination with public & private partners
- Stewardship of ecosystem Entrepreneur Support Organization (ESO) network
The ESO Network
The UpRise for Equitech Baltimore Tech Hub Innovation Cluster is comprised of 18 Entrepreneur Support Organizations (ESO) with a shared purpose of:
- Improving entrepreneurs’ navigation to the best fit opportunities to advance their startups, in part enabled by a digital front door and coordinated marketing and communications that build awareness of the region’s varied programs and resources;
- Aligning on and enacting practices to develop curated pipelines of startups that will direct entrepreneurs to the right opportunities with regional and national investors and large corporate customers at the right time.
