Dear Equitech Community,
Isaiah Pittman, here – UpSurge Baltimore’s Market Research Intern! We’re thrilled to announce a fantastic evening of events on July 30th, combining networking and professional development opportunities for newbies and aficionados alike!
Reflecting on my own journey over the past year at UpSurge Baltimore, attending Equitech Tuesdays as a Market Research Intern has been nothing short of transformative. Something I think most people – no matter what the stage in their career – can agree: putting yourself out there at networking events can be difficult.
However, attending Equitech Tuesdays has taught me a valuable lesson: while exposure is a natural outcome of networking, the essence of it lies in forming genuine, lasting connections. It’s not just handshakes and business cards; it’s understanding and engaging with people on a deeper level. It’s about sharing what we have in common and gaining insight from what differs. And one thing everyone has in common at Equitech Tuesday is a belief in Baltimore’s potential.
I reached out to fellow interns about their experiences at Equitech Tuesdays. Here’s what they had to share:
Equitech Tuesday has reshaped the way I view networking. Having the opportunity to meet people who have taken different paths within the tech sphere has encouraged me to further explore spaces, companies, and industries I wouldn’t have otherwise thought to look into.
– Susan Njoya, Data Analysis Intern
Attending ET was honestly pretty nerve-wracking at first—I was just out of college, new to Baltimore, and totally green in the business world. But after connecting with amazing founders and entrepreneurs, I was truly heartened by their genuine willingness to help others succeed. Their kindness has given me the confidence to take the next steps in my career.
– Joey Lu, Marketing and Communications Intern
Attending Equitech Tuesdays has been an incredible experience. I’ve met so many amazing, welcoming people who are deeply invested in Baltimore. The shared passion for innovation and community development resonates throughout the event. I was pleasantly surprised by how genuinely interested everyone was in learning about me and sharing their business ideas and visions. Equitech Tuesdays are always about collaborative discussions to elevate Baltimore while having a great time.
– Himalaya Kadari, Strategy & Operations Intern
These weekly gatherings have not only broadened my professional network but also bolstered my confidence in interacting with industry leaders. The welcoming atmosphere of Equitech Tuesdays has transformed networking from a daunting to enriching experience. That’s why for this week, we’re hosting Bring Your Intern to Equitech Tuesday! at Guilford Hall Brewery from 6:00-8:00 PM. We’re inviting your interns and younger colleagues to network, meet industry professionals, and immerse themselves in the thriving Baltimore tech scene! THis is their opportunity to connect with the community and get connected with experienced professionals.
But that’s not all! 🥁Join us from 4:00-6:00 PM at UpSurge Baltimore’s office for UpRise: “Blank Checks, Not Blank Stares: How to Market and Communicate Your Tech Solutions.” This session will feature marketing expert Joel Benge and founder of NextStep Robotics, Brad Hennessie. They’ll dive into effective strategies for marketing and communicating your tech solutions, offering valuable tips that can elevate your approach and help your startup stand out in a crowded market – no matter the company stage!
UpRise and Equitech Tuesday are two integral pieces of the giant puzzle that make up Baltimore’s startup ecosystem. Let’s invite the ecosystem’s new additions to get involved right at the source! We look forward to seeing you for an afternoon of creative communications and new connections.
See you there,
Isaiah Pittman
