The intellectual capital of the Baltimore MSA is second to none, with world-renowned institutions at the forefront of innovation like Johns Hopkins and University of Maryland Baltimore, two top-tier HBCUs in Morgan State and Coppin State, not to mention an award winning accelerator at the Towson StarTUp, strong mentorship for the Loyola Baltipreneurs, and the #1 producer of Black undergraduates that go on to earn a PhD in natural sciences and engineering at UMBC!
Our ecosystem is asset rich with innovators, founders, and talent!
Add that to the massive effort we just experienced across the ecosystem, using the EDA Tech Hubs Phase 2 proposal process to link these institutions to activities, programs, facilities, and opportunities to advance startups and commercialize technologies from the most diverse set of founders and companies the world has ever seen, all while leveraging the region’s rich assets for precision health technologies.
The Baltimore tech hub strategy is strong!
And this alignment of knowledge and strategy is coming at a time when we have unprecedented momentum in the tech ecosystem, solid commitments from the city and state and growing support from the private sector. Call it good luck or good timing but….
