Equitech Tuesday #146: UpSurge Inaugural Annual Meeting

To Baltimore’s Innovators, Founders, and Talent:

After 3 years of building the foundation for Baltimore Tech, it’s time to celebrate our momentum and take our ecosystem to the next level! Please join us for the Inaugural UpSurge Annual Meeting, this Tuesday, April 23rd, from 5:00-8:00pm in Baltimore Peninsula. Come hear the State of Baltimore Tech complete with key findings and data as we unveil the 2024 Baltimore Tech Ecosystem Report. Learn how the next phase of UpSurge’s work starts and ends with people but is grounded by data!

The only way to fully recognize the vibrancy and momentum of the Baltimore Tech community is to experience it for yourself. The UpSurge Annual Meeting will be the biggest, the boldest, the most fun Equitech Tuesday of the year!

We’ll kick things off at 5pm with a special VIP Founder’s Lounge, where the leaders of our tech community can enjoy signature cocktails, enjoy the vibe created by DJ Impulse (The Night Brunch), and fellowship with each other ahead of our program and an evening of networking.

Beginning at 6:00pm, you’ll hear from dynamic speakers like Mark Anthony Thomas of Greater Baltimore Committee, Kristen Valdes of b.well Connected Health, Christy Wyskiel of Johns Hopkins Technology Ventures, Maryanne Gilmartin of Baltimore Peninsula, and more! You will meet the most brilliant and diverse founders anywhere on the planet, and learn about some of Baltimore’s best assets, strongest industries, and fastest growing companies.

Companies like Backpack Healthcare, femly, Blackpoint Cyber, Haystack Oncology, EQL Finance, and Previse will be recognized for their outstanding accomplishments and deep-rooted impacts on the Baltimore tech ecosystem.

You’ll learn how tech startups attract talent and capital and grow into enterprises that generate high paying jobs, and why the tech economy is so important to the broader economic development of the Greater Baltimore region, with Baltimore city at its heart.

You’ll hear how Equitech has become a galvanizing force, aligning organizations focused on equitable economic growth across the state, the country, and around the world. Equitech includes the activities, policies, programs, partnerships and collaborations that are unlocking innovation, economic potential and opportunity by leveraging the advantages of diverse leadership, equitable standards and practices, and a culture of belonging in tech.

Our vision is for the Baltimore Tech Hub to become a new model for American innovation and economic growth. If we continue to gather intentionally, participate willingly, and partner effectively, all towards the goal of producing more successful startups that generate commercial and social value, we can shape this city, impact our state and change the world! The best part is, we get to do it together!
